If the Kemmerer plant proves successful Wyoming’s major utility PacifiCorp, also known as Rocky Mountain Power, would take it over in the early 2030s. and in doing so help the country meet its climate goals. TerraPower’s hope is that the Kemmerer project could set the stage for having similar plants all over the U.S. and it would have a very minimal carbon footprint. He co-founded TerraPower – the company behind the nuclear project. Microsoft founder and billionaire Bill Gates came to Kemmerer last week for the first time. The small town of Kemmerer recently got a preview of the proposed nuclear power plant project during an event that featured a celebrity appearance.
